Now that token minting is working (at least unshielded on older stack versions), the question of naming conventions came up in dev-chat with no answer.
On other chains, token metadata standards emerged early and fragmentation caused problems later. A few questions:

Is there a planned token metadata standard for Midnight (name, ticker, decimals, icon)?

Will this be enforced at the protocol level or left to each dApp?

Is there a registry or naming collision prevention mechanism planned?
If there’s no standard yet, it would be helpful to know whether one is being designed so devs can plan ahead rather than each project inventing its own format.
