Faucet request failing – InvalidAddressError

Hello Midnight team,

I am trying to request tDUST tokens from the testnet faucet (https://midnight.network/test-faucet), but every attempt fails.

Issue details:

  • I enter my wallet address in the faucet:
mn_shield-addr_undeployed1tukm4udqc6zklucd7t4uf3s0kqx7cvxw63zy8md4mcpl5wlf95zy4ag3tz5hzr45h7pmrss2n7p4c6hwa06a2fwp6k0yapaayg2yq4sm6fcjg
  • After submitting, I receive the following error:
Request failed
InvalidAddressError: Can't decode an address. Bech32m parse exception: Error: Expected test address, got undeployed one. Hex parse exception: Invalid HEX address format
  • I have tried multiple times over several days, but the request never succeeds, and no tokens arrive.

Steps I’ve taken:

  1. Checked that the wallet address is correct

  2. Tried multiple browsers and clearing cache

  3. Repeated the request multiple times over several days

Could you please advise why this error occurs, and how I can successfully receive test tokens for my wallet?

Hi guys,

Same for me: I just tried five times. I always get the same error:

I am doing doing a mistake ?

Wait this above is my fault, I gave a preview address.

BUT…. when I create a new Lace wallet, I only have the choice between the preview and Undeployed networks.

For the preview network, you need to use the following faucet link: https://faucet.preview.midnight.network

The faucet sends tNIGHT to your unshielded address. After receiving the tNIGHT, you must register it in your wallet in order to start generating tDUST

(I’m not sure why the official docs haven’t been updated with this information, the midnight team is probably very busy)
