# Minokawa compiler for Rust

I’m trying to come up with some basic flow using Rust libraries/API directly, and from what so far I’m able to understand, I’d need the source code of Minokawa so it can compile the contract code into Rust, to then be able to use the [midnight-ledger](https://github.com/midnightntwrk/midnight-ledger) crates like `onchain-runtime` and `onchain-state`.  
Is this correct?

Is it possible to download the Minokawa compiler for Rust from somewhere, or I’ll have to wait till it’s open sourced ?

Hey there.. Have you explored the [Installation set up.](https://docs.midnight.network/getting-started/installation) ? I would make sure you have compact compiler installed and follow the docs in the doc.midnight section.. I am pretty sure it’s in there, if not, reach out to the [Community Hub](https://github.com/midnightntwrk/community-hub)

and request there.. I know I have seen something somewhere..

The instructions available AFAIK are for compiling into Js/TS code.
